OPEN DAY

The Wideshot Open Day is when the Wideshot Programme kicks off!

A Community Event for all stakeholders (participants, partners, alum, mentors, funders and sponsors) held at Rua Red, GORM headquarters in March. The Open Day introduces the Wideshot - Community workshops and The Close-Up Residency and gives participants a taster of what to expect by offering hands-on-learning and insights into the creative industry.

Meeting mentors, facilitators, potential employers, collaborators and GORM team members ensures that community-building remains at the core of the Programme.

The first Community Workshop will happen at the Open Day so stay tuned for more info!

COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS

Facilitated by experienced film and media artists and practitioners, The Wideshot community workshops provide a hands-on introduction to the art of storytelling through multimedia.

Over 5 workshops located in Dublin and Limerick, participants will delve into the fundamentals of film production, gain insights into creative techniques, and unlock their potential in an interactive and supportive environment.

Whether you're a budding filmmaker or simply curious about the magic of media, our workshops offer a unique opportunity to learn, collaborate, and ignite your passion for visual storytelling.

WORKSHOPS TO BEGIN MARCH 2025.

COMMUNITY PARTNERS

Meet the Team

The Close-Up Residency selects ten lucky young people who took part in the community workshops to participate in an immersive filmmaking experience during the summer. This residency empowers selected young people to harness their potential in creative media and digital storytelling through in-depth mentorship, on-site training with professional equipment, studio tours and collaborative teamwork. Aligned with their personal narratives and the skills they have learned over the workshops, these young people will be challenged to develop a project which they will have to pitch at the end of the week.

One project, from one person or a collective, will be selected to be developed with the support of GORM and its partners. The winner will be awarded €2,500 towards the development of the project.

At the annual GORM GATHERING Community Event, the winning project will premiere to the public.

With the support of The Wideshot Media Partners, these young people will also be offered traineeships and internships in the industry.
