As Ireland observes the International Day for Countering Hate Speech on June 18th, GORM an Intercultural consultancy and award winning social enterprise based in Rua Red Arts Centre, Tallaght are launching the GORM Gathering, a Narrative Change event, set to take place on October 12th, 2024 at The Complex, Dublin.
In light of the growing polarisation and increase in far-right and anti-immigrant rhetoric in Ireland, Mamobo offers unique insights into GORM's innovative approach to addressing these challenges through creative media and intercultural education.
As a Black and migrant-led social enterprise, GORM's vision for the gathering is to promote Irish creative screen talent from ethnically diverse backgrounds, connecting with local and underserved audiences to bring about narrative change and unify across differences.
On October 12th, 2024, the GORM Gathering will unite filmmakers, creatives of colour, and industry leaders to celebrate and promote diversity and inclusion in Irish media. This 5-hour event promises to be a groundbreaking experience, offering a unique fusion of entertainment, enlightenment, and engagement in order to promote Irish creative screen talent connecting with local and underserved audiences.
Mamobo said, “We are so glad to debut the GORM Gathering. By bringing together diverse creatives and audiences, we aim to bridge gaps, challenge stereotypes, and pave the way for a richer, more diverse narrative in Irish media where through storytelling, we can unify across our differences.”
The Principal Partner for the GORM Gathering is Screen Ireland, with event partners Coimisiún na Meán and Diageo and media partner Newstalk FM supporting also.

Similarly, with this unwavering mission, Mamobo will serve as the host on Newstalk’s newest podcast “Younified”, where GORM is also a co-producer. Having launched on June 16th, this show will spotlight the voices of different and diverse communities in Ireland, fostering inclusivity, and promoting narrative change through their unique stories.
