Are you a creative young individual aged 18-30 with a passion for digital storytelling and content creation? Get ready for "The Wideshot," a unique talent development initiative by GORM. A programme for ethnically diverse young adults, the Wideshot offers a series of workshops from March to May 2025, and for a lucky few, a fully funded summer residency known as The Close-Up Residency (see www.gormmedia.com/the-close-up).

"The Wideshot" equips you with multimedia and creative skills essential for a successful career in the digital media landscape. Expect hands-on learning, mentorship from industry experts, networking opportunities and a chance to build your professional portfolio.

  2. Workshops: Interactive sessions across Ireland introducing participants to storytelling, filmmaking techniques, and creative production.
  3. Industry Access: Newsletter Updates on Opportunities traineeships and internships facilitated through partnerships with media organisations and community groups.

Eligibility:

  • Open to young people aged 18–30 residing in Ireland.
  • Focus on (but not limited to) individuals from low incomes areas and/or migrant and ethnically diverse backgrounds.
  • No prior experience in media or storytelling required—just a passion to learn and create.
  • Ideal for aspiring filmmakers, storytellers, or those curious about digital storytelling.

    What does the programme include?

    The Wideshot Programme features:

    • Launch & Open Day: An introduction for participants, partners, and mentors to the programme's goals.
    • Community Workshops: Five workshops across Ireland providing hands-on training in storytelling and media production.
    • The Close Up Residency A selective, immersive filmmaking experience for 10 participants, offering mentorship, studio tours, and project development opportunities.
    • Programme Showcase: A final event at the GORM Gathering to celebrate participants’ work and award the winning project​.

    Participants will gain foundational skills in film production, storytelling techniques, and creative media. The programme focuses on practical applications, such as using professional equipment, developing narratives, and pitching ideas​.
