How are we responding to what’s going on in Israel and Palestine
At GORM, our unwavering dedication to uplifting marginalised voices and empowering communities is central to our mission. We recognise the human rights violations being committed in Palestine and the victims of the October 7th attack by Hamas with utmost care and cultural sensitivity, and we sincerely apologise for the delay in responding to this critical issue.
In a genuine effort to respond appropriately, GORM initiated direct conversations with those most impacted, acknowledging the profound violence and sensitivity surrounding their experiences. We've listened attentively, learned from their stories, and recognised the imperative to provide a platform for their truths and realities.
In a media landscape rife with misinformation, our commitment to the power of storytelling in humanising communities remains unwavering. The significance of our Elevating Voices pillar has been magnified, compelling us to spotlight individual stories to nurture understanding and empathy.
Dedicated to raising awareness, GORM is committed to producing an audiovisual piece that sheds light on the lived experiences of those directly affected by the genocide being committed. Our objective is to contribute to a more informed and compassionate global discourse, challenging misinformation and fostering empathy among viewers.
Acknowledging the immense challenges faced by these voices amidst the ongoing genocide and apartheid in Palestine, coupled with the censorship some endure when expressing solidarity, GORM fully respects their timelines, wishes, and needs. Prioritising their well-being, we ensure that their voices are elevated with the utmost respect and consent. Through engagement with these communities, we've come to understand that those intimately dealing with this are not in a state of emotional or physical safety to engage in discourse at this time. As such, GORM will follow their agenda when those involved are ready to use their voice.
We want to make clear that GORM does not condone any hatred or violence against any human being.Our focus is on elevating the voices of communities affected by giving them a platform.
